school exams - forgotten results

I sat my o'grades nearly 30 years ago & have (over the course of several house moves) lost my certificate & really can't remember what grades I got. I need to complete a job application by tomorrow (which is the closing date) and obviously there is no time to get a copy of my certificate to check my results. I really don't want to mess this up so does anyone have any helpful suggestions for what to do in this case?

Do you need the actual grades? Surely you know whether you passed or not so can you just put '6 O Levels at grade C or above'? Or if not and you are completing an application form, just type 'pass' where it asks for grade.
I know you have to fill something in but I don't think that exact grades from that long ago will be terribly important now.

What job are you going for that they will really care about an exam 30 years ago?0

I don't think I even put my O Levels on my last application form as there wasn't enough space and later qualifications were far more relevant to the role. I may have put x o 'levels and x a levels (pass) and left it at that. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Some employers will ask to see the original certificates. Especially in Maths and English as a C or above is required now for most jobs.0

Assuming you have Maths and English, just put '6 O levels including Maths and English'. Apply for your certificate and if you are asked at interview, say that you have applied for a copy certificate.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

thanks everyone for your replies. If I could get away with just putting 5 o'grades or whatever, I would but it's an online application with drop down menus to highlight both the exam & the pass mark! EEK! lol. Sorry, I should maybe have been more specific when I wrote my original question. Now what?0

Unless you can get hold of replacement certificates if the exam boards still exist then your only option is to make up the grades. I often have to do this with the dates that I changed jobs when the application requires an exact date. If the employer wants to see proof of your reqults they'll be out of luck, and they'll either proceed with your application without proof or reject you.0

You're going to have problems getting copy certificates because
a) I bet you can't remember which exam board you took and
b) the chances are those exam boards no longer exist anyway
I'm an exams officer and I'm constantly getting phone calls and emails from past students asking if I can send them their exam results - one recently was from the 1970s!! I don't understand why people aren't a bit more careful with important documents like qualification certifications0 -
Thanks to everyone who replied. I managed to find the 'pass' option on the dropdown menu so that's what I've chosen for all of them & fingers crossed whoever looks at the application (or reads this board) doesn't think I'm a complete numpty! lol.
Thanks again for all of your very helpful replies.
Fingers crossed!:)0 -
I would guess no crime against forgetting0
