Where do product ideas come from?

I recently posted on one of my own facebook pages, 'Where do product ideas come from?"
I was asking because yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, a 'product idea' came to me.
I wasn't brain-storming, the 'problem' this particular product solves isn't a problem I suffer from, and I wasn't consciously thinking about this 'problem', so where did the solution come from and how.
Obviously, the product came from the sub-conscious, but how, and what seed could have been sown for the idea to sprout in the first place.
