Thursday 26th June - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

    Morning folks :D

    My list is:

    [STRIKE]Washing - do and hang up outside
    Banking
    Charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Packed lunch/freebies from work events
    Dinner from the freezer[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Walk four miles[/STRIKE]
    Go to the gym for induction :eek: This is a DFW activity as I joined three weeks ago and have been too self-conscious to attend :o:o
    Work out my budget for next month as I get paid tomorrow

    Have a good day everyone!
  • Morning moomin :wave: thanks for starting us off! Good luck at the gym :) I keep meaning to ask, what festival did you book to go to? Am thinking about going to the calling festival on Sunday as Stevie Wonder & Jack Johnson are playing & I love both of those! 69 for the ticket & 35 to see each of them is a bargin!

    Its Thursday & my penultimate day at work :eek: 3 meetings & going out for lunch with some of my team :cry: Have such mixed feelings about leaving my job. Some aspects of the company, particularly how I feel I am being treated by senior management & HR makes me so mad, but other things make me sad. I've never left a job without it being my decision before, so guess it comes with the territory...

    Anyway! DFW things for today:

    * check banking
    * gave dd $10
    * B/D from stores
    * hang some washing up
    * washed up
    * vacuum & polish before going to work
    * packed up dgds bag & put in car
    * sanding woodwork in hallway tonight
    * check onepoll
    * submit expenses
    * change bb supplier
    * other than lunch not spend any money

    Early night again. Have a great day x

    I'm booking things for the Edinburgh festivals. I've got a fund I save in to every year - I don't spend a £2 coin from September :D

    This year I have two book festival events and (so far) 12 Fringe shows booked.

    I love living here :rotfl:

  • Good afternoon everyone

    All this talk of Festivals has got me thinking I need to plan some stuff for the summer hols (will be looking for free or very cheap things).

    Today I have will:

    - walk dogs before and after work
    - breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores (having leftover tagine stew which was really tasty :) )
    - check bank accounts (son1 still hasn't transferred his keep grrrr)
    - talk to son2 about options for next year now his chosen course is not running
    - working and not spending today
    - plan meals and write shopping list
    - update spreadsheet (really behind with this)

    OH is signed off all next week and needs to go back for another x-ray (has pneumonia) to see if he needs to continue with antibiotics and rest (he is getting better but very slowly). Might see if he feels up to a bit of e-bay research/selling - he is getting a bit bored, not the most patient patient :)

    Thinks that's all. Best wishes x

    Afternoon Thursday Savers,
    Today's small positive things:
    *Save energy by sharing nice hot bath water & using leftover hot kettle water to soak a white shirt.
    *Cleaned house using minimal products.
    *Checked veggies for pests/problems.
    *Weeding so veggies can thrive & provide us with lots of food.
    *Finished yesterday's list.
    *Pick more lettuce for tonight's salad.
    *Do next week's meal plans.
    *Write shopping list.
    And that will have to do for today.
    f x
    Oh...except for knitting some more of nephew's jumper for the present box. Will probably get some of that done tonight.
    2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
    Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
