Thankyou for all the comments. To address some of the statements made, I can guarantee that I will have no further children (for personal reasons I will not embellish further), out of school care and school holidays do not incur expense for me as my family will look after my son, as they have done with my other 2 sons - I only work 2 and a half days a week. I can also say that we would switch back to repayment, particularly as the deal we are looking at is only fixed for 2 years.
Again, thanks to everyone who has given helpful comments0 -
The OP makes it sound like the Halifax staff member has made a decision on this.
The option you seek is not available as function of market and regulation - nothing personal.I am a Mortgage Broker

Thanks for your comment amnblog, I appreciate after getting the comments on here that we may not be able to get the product we wanted but the Halifax advisor was fairly rude in the manner in which he explained things. He didnt seem to want to answer any questions apart from extremely brief answers which were given in a gruff manner interspersed with quite a few huffs and puffs. He may have to answer these questions many times a day but when it comes down to it, that's his job!0

Why not just do the product transfer online?
