Query about hours?

He's taken on 7 extra staff from the 25 hours a week he's taken off me, knowing that I do live a distance away, and I do actually know what i'm doing - instead he hired new people, on better contracts as "he doesn't know what i'm like", and given them any spare hours first! When I asked to be trained to senior sales or even given a 20hour contract, so I had a few extra hours as, funny enough, i'm in charge of training, but not there enough to do any with the work - I did a 50 hour week once, 8 hours unpaid, just to simply help the store out. He's on holiday currently, and our other manager's given me 28 hours this week, and about 32 next week, which i'm very thankful for, he knows what i'm like (he's one of several managers that don't understand why i'm being pushed backwards)
Hi Again,
Give them all the way to go ! You are too good for this guy. Maybe your expertise etc makes him a little jealous!!! I hope you get somewhere with them. I'll never understand why part timers are more favourable for employment than full. Savvy Sue had a point with flexibility but what about consistency, ability and loyalty.

There are arguments both ways wrt full-time versus part-time, I admit I'm slightly playing devil's advocate because I do think Cerenia's been messed about, and I don't think that's any way to treat staff. Having helped run an out of school club where (like a shop) you HAVE to have a certain number of bodies when you're open, I felt we could never have too many staff on the books. However, if one of them had said "I need X hours per week", I'd have done my best to provide them, and if that wasn't possible I would have explained WHY, eg needing a Senior that day etc.
We're about half and half part-timers versus full-timers where I work (non-retail), only to make it more complicated some work has to be done off-site, so trying to maintain cover in the office when we need it can be a nightmare! I don't know if having more part-timers would help (not that we're likely to get them) - they'd still all want Fridays off, wouldn't they? :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
