Removing Warts

Has anyone successfully got rid of warts? I have two on the back of my hand and I HATE them. I have tried using various over the counter treatments and got some gel on prescription from the doctor, but all that did was make the surrounding skin really sore and didn't work either.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

Hi OP
Have you seen your GP regarding the warts? There are treatments available on the NHS from surgical removal to freezing and a few in-between. Might be worth making an appointment once you've read the above info.0 -
I did go to the GP and they prescribed a gel, which I used religiously but it made the surrounding skin very sore (despite applying it carefully) and in the end didn't work. I guess I will have to go back to the GP. I know they're not a major thing but I feel quite distressed by them and they are getting bigger. It just seems it is hit and miss as to what works for each person so I will keep trying different approaches. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0

ElusiveLucy - I know it's probably not scientifically proven but a lot of people have had success with duct tape over the wart. I also managed to rid of two large ones on my thimb by coating with superglue each day. Not sure that's medically advised either but it worked for me!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

My adult daughter had a huge crop on her index finger, palm side. She had tried over the counter stuff and several cryotherapy sessions with her gp. It was no good eventually I sent her to a hand surgeon privately to see if he could remove them. He said he could not because of the risk of damage to the nerves in her finger
As an absolute last resort we tried h duct tape treatment, plenty about it online to read. It took about three months but it worked!
I'm still amazed by that.
It's been a year now since the last one rotted away...lurgh, it's not nice, but effective and cost very little but you do need to be persistent. People kept asking her why her finger was always taped up too. try it.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Difficult to believe this one but its true.
As a teenage boy I had one on the palm of my hand.
My late mother suggested rubbing the blood off a piece of steak on it.
I laughed and said its an old wives tale. I went along with it and behold it went!
Probably complete coincidence but.......0 -
I suffered with these for years, had them on one hand that was covered with them, froze off by the doctors, which I can remember was very painful. My son suffered with these for years aswell, and we had tried to freeze them aswell, with no success, so we tried the duct tape, which I can definitely say worked a treat, took about 3 months, but no sign of them 12 months down the line.0

Does duct tape work for skin tags too?
I have one in my groin area which has been growing for around 6 years now. I remember one year when I was going on holiday I decided to use wax strips on the 'bikini area' and I forgot it was there, ouch but it didn't come off, sorry if TMI but I would like it to go away:o0 -

Duct tape did the trick for my son after trying OTC, doctor and hospital.
If we'd used duct tape first would have saved a lot of time money and worry0
