Wednesday 25th June - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning  quick coffee & post before I go and finish getting ready, have to leave at 7.30
DFW things for today:
* checked banking - pay day :j had a mare yesterday when the woman in HR (who since I lost my job is being such a thorn in my side) told payroll that I owed the company 4 days annual leave. It was only because I called payroll about something else I found this out and was able to prevent it from happening
* will sort out budget & shift funds this evening
* take flask of coffee with me on a long drive (260 miles round trip) so I'm not tempted to buy anything
* pack up dgd's bag & leave on side for oh to drop off
* transfer buggy from my car to oh's
* check water, oil & tyres
* get petrol using cashback card
* dinner will be lo shepherd's pie
* change energy suppliers
* also change BB supplier - I think tomorrow is the last day for the offer?
* read Martin's newsletter
* decorating tonight
* email friend about arranging a skype session
* grab a couple of bits from SM, write a list & stick to it
Ok I better get a move on! Happy hump day x

Morning Campers,
Today's positive small money things will be:
*Save energy by switching off iron for last couple of garments (have a seriously massive ironing pile - boooo!)
*Make bread rolls.
*Make spicy mexican-style pizza (rubber chicken)
*Make stew (rubber chicken, stock I made yesterday & leftover gravy)
*Water & feed veggies which need it.
*Sow more seeds - two types of lettuce, radishes, watercress. (Also pansies for winter containers - free seeds)
*Weed spare raised bed ready for transplanting baby leeks.
*Sort out Avon order. Am going to try one of their moisturisers as on offer £5, instead of the £16 I pay for my usual brand. Worth a try for that saving.
*Quick check of online banking to make sure no nasty surprises waiting.
*Catch up with surveys as v behind with these & want to keep those vouchers coming!
*Take dried herb bunches down from kitchen ceiling & crumble into jars.
*Keep self entertained with free audio book.
*Finish knitting Dad's sock for present box. Didn't finish it last night as planned as watched gripping programme which needed my full attention.
OK, that's my list. Better get on with it. Keep your hands on your pennies, everyone!
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Hello all,
What a difference 24 hours can make. Thought I was off to Brighton to look at student rooms with son2 this weekend but he has managed to get day shifts starting Saturday (has been working weekend evenings/nights in a pub and it's not nice - dealing with drunken aggressive idiots). So I cancelled the viewing we had arranged and then we got a letter saying his course has been cancelled. Thank goodness it happened BEFORE we had forked out a small fortune on the deposit for his accommodation. Need to put this to one side as otherwise will be tempted to spend it
Got home yesterday to find that son1 had put a tagine type stew in the slow cooker - having bought all the ingredients himself (he saw the price of lamb and substituted stewing beef) so we've got that for tonight - yummy.
Otherwise I have/will:
- walk dogs before and after work
- work! very busy at the mo
- small shop (milk etc.) and stick to the list
- got free coffee at break-time - always available but I've been a bit slow taking it up
- breakfast at home and packed lunch
I still haven't done anything with the chicken carcass that I cooked Saturday. It has been in the fridge since. What do you reckon folks - is it safe to make stock with?
And I have finally remembered to update my signature :T
Have a good day all x0 -
Afternoon everyone
Lots to do today and squeeze work in
My to do list:
Send Ebay parcel
Put some diesel in the car
list some more items on ebay - having a good clear out
make dinner from store
clean the house and bin any rubbish
Aim to sort 1 pile of paperwork
Have a fab day everyone x0 -
Alright gang?!
Hope everyone is well today! Thanks for the starter DNMS!
Back to work today... The less said about that the better at the moment!! On the plus side, it's been fairly productive!
Bribed maintainance boys to valet my car with the work cars in exchange for 6 welshcakes.... (HM by mother!) bargain!
Managed to print off some stuff required for upcoming city break on work's printer
Cleared a whopping pile if paperwork that built up from nights last weekend
Got accepted for a bit more OT for Glasto!
Start ironing pile - OH had meltdown this morning about housework... Is it bad I just can't see when stuff needs doing?! Bit of a man when it comes to stuff like that!
Dark wash on and out to dry in the sun!
Check banking
Nectar Adpoints
Polish work boots
Pop up allotment - weed, water and pick latest veg for dinner
Cook dinner - courgette veggie bake with gammon steak! Yum!
Home pamper session - eyebrows, face mask, nails etc
Early night!! Here's hoping!
Happy Wednesday gang! Catch up tomorrow!
