Is going into debt to pay for training worth it?

Its hard for me to figure out what exactly my plan is. I had been preparing for a return to HE to finish what I started when my world was tipped underside down.
But on careful reflection, I don't think after a gap of 7 years that it would be beneficially to me. It would feel more like going backwards and my interests have shifted in the time since my time at Uni.
Right now, I am do the same type of work I have done my whole career and sometimes it feels like I work to live. Despite liking the job, it barely pays enough to cover my bills.
I had a lot of hope attached to getting the management job. I love the company I work for and for the last few months, I've practically been doing the job anyway.
Despite asking three times for constructive feedback, I have received none so I have no idea why I wasn't considered suitable. I was thinking doing a management course would make them take me more serious about my career progression.
The other path I am considering is a role in Payroll or similar but I am very conscious that it would be a complete change in career and more than one or two courses to make such a change.0
