Best Broadband

hi,
Currently using BT Infinity but a bit miffed with the monthly cost - it's usually ~£50 a month.
Infinity unlimited fibre optic.
Line rental. £15.99
1571 answer. £1.75
Broadband and calls. £27.67
Anytime calls add on. £5.48

Does anyone have any better alternatives out there?

I'm out of contract so am free to move at present.

Thanks,
D.
Cheers,

Where are you? Are you in the catchment area for Virgin Media?. You can take out Virgin Fibre Broadband in it's own right without having to take on a phone line or TV package... that's what I do.. why bother with a Landline when everyone now-a-day has mobiles...... save the money !!!
  • Apparently Virgin Broadband is not available where I live (Crumlin, Co. Antrim).

    Have you checked here: http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/

I'm with Plusnet and find their service great, no issues at all. No virgin in my area either which is a shame as I was with them for years.

The only problem if you want Plusnet speeds to match BT and be unlimited in your downloads you have to pay the same price and your still caught for line rental. Funny BT actually own plusnet, you wouldn't think it when you have to make a complaint, Plusnet and BT wholesale don't seem to like each other :o

I have been looking for an alternative to BT for 2 years now, as I don't have Virgin in the street there really is no viable alternative :(

I'm on Infinity option 2 and get 70mb/s speed, unlimited downloads and evening and weekend calls for £130 a quarter. That is about £43 a month, considering the broadband use I get and the quality of line and speed, I don't think its too bad :o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Another vote for PlusNet here. I've been with them since they started their ADSL service long before they were acquired by BT - found level of service hasn't changed over the years, very helpful the few times I've had to contact them too.

Currently on unlimited fibre package plus evening & weekend calls etc, 34.99 including line rental. Do all my TV watching including HD Streaming (said adios to TV license) through Netflix, youtube, iPlayer etc and find internet speed excellent.

Phone them for a better deal as a 'loyal customer' who is now out of contract and looking around for a better deal.. You should get the BT Infinity discounted by about 15% and get them to throw in one of the services like Caller Display or 1571 Answer for Free for the next 12 months. Also, you can pay the 12mth Line Rental upfront and make a further saving.

Been with Primus for some years now.
Only problem was when a BT engineer messed the connection in the local exchange.
Currently paying £16+ a month, unlimited broadband, including line rental and some calls.
Hey if you're with BT, all that extra dosh you 're forking out is just paying English Premiership players wages. Fair play te ye.

I have found Plusnet to be awful, a terrible attitude to customers, so I'm moving the other way and getting the Sainsburys £100 voucher from BT.
