I have read that schools can not offer a school trip unless they take all the children (year group/class etc) concerned.
Paying for school trips is voluntary but if not enough people pay, they can cancel.
So the price of the trip actually includes a a subsidy for those who can not and those who do not WANT to pay
In the past, I have paid over and above so that my child would not be disappointed.
Once, in the playground and I overheard a 'lady' (in the very basic way that she was a female) comment rather loudly about the 'mug' who had paid extra for a trip so that it wasn't cancelled. Went on to say that she'd never pay for a school trip as some mug would always cough up, they wouldn't cancel and upset the kids. The school actually operated a policy that if you didn't have the means to pay that your child would never be excluded.0 -

I personally think that strikes have had their day and achieve very little. The days where employers had to give in to workers demands are sadly long gone
I now have two DGD's staying overnight because of the strike. Sorry but0 -
