Let me get this straight, she signed a contract with Brighthouse and got a variety of items (what did she get and how long was she supposed to pay for them?). She paid for a while but then moved away taking the items with her, stopping payment and not telling Brighthouse her new contact details and not getting in touch to sort this out until they tracked her down.

Is she now agreeing to start repaying for these goods plus interest and presumably some fees for missed payments?

She isn't doing anything, as OP has told her that Brighthouse aren't bullying her without a fight!

It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

While I can sympathise about the curve ball and having to move I don't entirely understand how you can move a load of white goods which you're paying for on a weekly/monthly basis to another part of the country and forget to inform Brighthouse?

I think what is likely going to be questioned is how could they contact her within those timescales if they didn't know where she was or how to reach her? And I'm guessing that they probably got in touch fairly sharpish after finally tracking her down...

Has she only spoken to Caversham or has she tried to call Brighthouse to come to some repayment agreement? Bit of a long shot but may be worth a go?

Oh, and my advice would be to try to work with them to an amicable solution instead of putting up too much of a fight as she is in the wrong here...

cab are incorrect, and really shouldn't suggest court action as the op will incur more fees. In the contract it would say the title of goods would not pass until paid in full.

Op I agree your friend is in the wrong, its better to work with creditors
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

When you say they are refusing to accept she pays off the balance on the accounts - are you certain about that?

It would be unheard of for a creditor not to agree to accept payment in full, that is what they want not her second hand white goods.

If she knows what the current outstanding balance is across all the accounts and sends them a cheque or makes a direct payment to them then they will have no cause to take any further action against her.

he issue is the underhand and mixed way they gone about it.

Hang on, she stopped paying! moved away! and hid the goods! and you claim that it's Brighthouse who are being underhand?

I'm sorry, I must be missing something here, how do you come to that conclusion?

If needed she could potentially pay off the remainder of the balance on the account but they refusing to accept that.
Are they refusing to accept that she could pay off the remainder of the balance on the account, or are they refusing to accept that she could potentially pay off the remainder of the balance of the account?

If it's the former, then it's unheard of. As has already been mentioned Brighthouse don't want to take back white goods that have been in storage and taken halfway across the country. They want payment.

If it's the latter, then it's completely understandable. Your 'friend' has already shown that she's irresponsible when it comes to settling debts. It's only natural that they are treating any comments about 'potentially' paying off the remainder with short shrift.

  • They refused accept as said account closed.

They underhand in way dealing with it by giving inaccurate info and trying to bully. Yes she was wrong to leave so long but even if she had contacted them sooner, things would not be so much different judging by what read on many forums.

Cheers for answers but got one that very useful from buddy of mine so will have this resolved soon.

Also, though I can see why you'd think she a skipper out on bills - she's not like that but all entitled to opinion :)
