Reference when never worked before?!

I've never worked. I left school five years ago- so assuming that's out of it.

Only person I can think of is my old JC advisor and my psychiatrist.

I did a distance learning course for a few months a year ago- could I put them down?

Do you know anyone locally who is in a position of responsibility e.g. Doctor, councillor etc who would be able to give you a personal reference? Have you done any volunteering, or could you do some in the near future and seek a reference from them?
  • If I was going for a job there's no way I'd give a psychiatrist for a reference. A distance learning provider wouldn't have even met you so they wouldn't be relevant (and I doubt they'd agree to it). Do you belong to any sports teams or clubs? Someone from that sort of thing there might be OK at a push or an old teacher who knew you well (they may be on LinkedIn).
  • It's voluntary work i'm applying for :/ would my old JC advisor do it? Or the work programme?

JCP advisers are not permitted to give a reference im afraid. WP advisers I believe are able to I believe.
