Government schemes for starting a business?

I plan to start a business. I was actually self employed and working from home until I divorced recently leaving me without resources to continue work. I now need to set up the work I was doing in a dedicated location.

It is a recording studio, I will be re-establishing the work I used to do from home (writing and recording music for TV), and I plan to use the studio to record voice-overs and sound effects.

Are there government schemes to help me do this? At the moment it seems the schemes are only for people in receipt of benefits which I am not as I still have a passive income in the form of royalties which occasionally arrive.

What help is available?

As you aren't on any benefits, there isn't any help out there.

Are you under 30? If you are then Groundwork might help you, but usually only the under 25's.

Unfortunately as you have some form of income you would be looking to self fund.

If it is commercially viable, why not a bank?
