Tuesday 24th June - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning :wave: ah what a beautiful morning it is
Sitting here with a coffee savouring peace & quiet for a short while. I can hear dgd upstairs babbling but for the moment she is happy so I'll leave her!
DFW things for today:
* [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
* work out house spends over the last few weeks & update ss
* [STRIKE]work out cc spends for the last month[/STRIKE]
* pay workman for work last week
* [STRIKE]check onepoll[/STRIKE]
* change energy supplier - definitely doing this today!
* speak to oh about changing phone & BB provider
* write letter & post
* [STRIKE]hang out washing[/STRIKE]
* do another load & hang out
* all meals from stores
* look through fridge to see what needs using up
* do portuguese homework & some practice
* Portuguese class tonight, friend's turn to drive
* working from home, saving petrol and time
* go through villages to drop dgd at child minders (cutting out about an hours traffic
)
* make shepherds pie while at home this afternoon
* sit in the sun at lunchtime and read book (on new decking
)
* contact IT about my expenses claim. Something went wrong so won't get paid this week...
* went to farm shop & bought a couple of bits of veg for £1.13 rather than going to the SM and spending £20 :T
* was going to buy sugar to make a cake but remembered I have some scones in the freezer
will get one out for dgd's tea
Ok think that's my lot.... Have a lovely day whatever you are up to x

Morning Money Savers,
Thought I'd better come on & type out my list for motivation. Just been tooooooo chilled out since we got back from camping! So here it is:
*Saved a bit of energy by using bath water to wash our tent carpet as it fell victim to some exploding beer. Drip drying outside on line. Done.
*Rubber chicken. Done! Had roast yesterday. Have divvied up the rest for chicken salad tonight, spicy Mexican chicken pizza, stew & 2 packed lunches. Carcass bubbling away in SC for stock.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Fill all our tiny plastic containers with value dried fruit for work snacks.
*Finish knitting Dad's socks for the present box.
*Make loaf (it's in the BM)
*Water veggies & feed toms, cukes, aubs, courgettes & squash.
*Trawl through seed box to get ready for more seed sowing tomorrow.
*Pick lettuce & rocket for tonight's salad.
*Washed big pile of razor clam shells we collected on the beach last week. They make nice plant labels. Look classier than plastic plus biodegradable.
*Got hair almost dry before finishing it off with the dryer.
*"Use-it-up'" still going strong. Almost finished a weird lip gloss that had been lurking in the back of a drawer. Also using up a hair styling spray I don't much like. I bought it, therefore adding a few more chemicals & plastic waste to the environment, so the least I can do is use the wretched thing up!
*Start weeding red onion bed if I have time.
Hmmm. Feel a little bit more motivated now. Will just glug Mr f's work coffee which he left behind this morning & will crack on.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hello all,
At work today, earning not spending. Hubbie is on the mend but it will be very slow we think.
So today I have/will:
- walk dogs before and after work
- Had breakfast at home and brought packed lunch to work
- Charged phone at work (and did a bit of photocopying
)
- Check bank accounts
- Make stock from Sunday's chicken carcass (has been in fridge)
- Jacket spuds for tea can cook while I am walking
- Plan next few days meals (out of sync with this as have been making nice things for hubbie to tempt him to eat. He ate a rather large portion of pasta last night so I think he is getting his appetite back)
- research student rooms for son 2 - we are going to see one on Saturday, I'd like to have at least one more to see as a reserve choice (it's quite a long way to travel)
- put laundry in this morning, must phone sons and ask them to hang it out
Hope you all have a good day x0 -
