Soda Water?

I've not come across value soda water. You can get 2 litre bottles of value sparkling water which is just fizzy water for about 17p but soda water has a different taste and comes in smaller 1 litre bottles. We buy the 6 packs from asda for £2, aldi sell them individually for 37p each so works out slightly cheaper from asda.
It depends what you want to do with it, really - the sparkling water is nice and refreshing to drink as is or with a slice of lemon/lime, but it doesn't make a good lime and soda (like in the pubs, because you need soda water) and it's not a suitable replacement for topping up cocktails etc where soda water would be used.

No, Soda Water isn't the same as fizzy water.
Soda water is carbonated water with Sodium bicarbonate added.
Fizzy Water is just carbonated water.
If in doubt read the ingredients list!0 -

I must admit, I agree but assumed I was wrong when wikipedia stated that its the same thing.
It looks like we could both be right?
Whether home made or store bought, soda water may be identical to plain carbonated water or it may contain a small amount of table salt, sodium citrate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, potassium citrate, potassium sulfate, or disodium phosphate, depending on the bottler. These additives are included to emulate the slightly salty taste of store-bought soda water.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Yes, probably!
But I think that the OP is talking about shop-bought or pub-style soda water - and as far as i know (the wiki entry is ambiguous and not necessarily entirely clear or correct) the shop/pub 'soda water' always has additives - primarily Sodium bicarbonate (which is, presumably, how Soda water gets its name).
And commercial Soda Water certainly has a taste - and that's not from bubbles.
Having said that, an old-fashioned domestic 'soda siphon' just uses tap water and a gas bottle, as do modern 'soda'-streams - but neither, in my opinion, make soda water - they just make fizzy water!
ETA But the ultimate test, as I said above, is to look at the ingredients on the bottles - here's Tesco's soda water details: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=2548573570
