Why yes, yes I can. I predict, of course, that you'll choose, whichever example I come up with, to pretend that the activities are all fine, but why not start with Unite's actions at Grangemouth?

Where a union representative was using their time to try to interfere in Labour's selection process when they should have been using it improving the workers' lot...
This activity, and the desire to call a strike to protect a union rep, threatened the job of everyone at the plant.
Whether you will justify it or not, the unions actions here are appalling.0 -

OP - what does you daughter want to achieve by going to tribunal? Reinstatement? Compensation?
You're not looking at mega-money in payouts you know and the work and time involved can be very stressful.0 -

And for others reading this, remember, it is in Unions' interest to sing their praises, they want your money, and can use it to give the union leader a lovely big wage, a nice house, etc.
Yes it is in their interests to promote themselves because the greater their membership the stronger the union. Yes, you will have to pay your subs to join and yes unions employ full time officials who are paid. By your logic, I should stop shopping in supermarkets and grow my own food so that the supermarket bosses and staff don't get paid!
This does not mean that they are telling you the truth, any more than any organisation touting for business is.

Not sure what evidence or experience you have to back up your somewhat bizarre argument, but as a shop steward I can honestly say I have seen many members helped and supported through some very difficult times at work by dedicated volunteer lay officials and full time officers.
Personally I have no problem with my union getting involved in political campaigning where it is intended to further the interests of its members. If as an individual you do have a problem with this, you can opt not to pay the political fund element of the subs.
Many many posts crop up here where people are in sticky situations at work and needing help they could get if they were in a union but actually can't afford to get because they are not. This is why I believe that it's so important to join - because you simply can't afford not to!0 -
'Daughter hairdresser has been too see a solicitor via cab they say she has a very good case against big employer but can't get legal aid she has left this employment so how can she take this further if she isn't working? Do they do no win no fee on discrimination cases please where do we go from here.:mad::mad:'

Many people seem to have a problem understanding that most discrimination is perfectly legal.0 -
