Tesco Price Promise - Making the most of it

Decided to try splitting my shopping into "expensive/normal priced" and "special offer/cheaper" to make the most of the Tesco Price Promise. By splitting cheaper items would not offset the more expensive ones IFSWIM.
Expensive side resulted in Price Promise refund for next shop but cheaper side did too! I did use coupons on the cheaper side and wonder if these are included when the Price Promise is calculated. Does anyone know?
Thanks!

Its a very simple but good idea you have there since we often go to Tesco for the big shop and tend to do about £100 a time and rarely get anything off the price promise as we do the deals as often as possible.
Might be a decent way to save a quid or two per time if you can be bothered to split it out.
However thinking about it I usually get a voucher every 1-2 big spends for say £5-8 which would wipe this bonus out. So maybe not...0 -
If no idea what either of you are talking about.0

I'm with stupid ^
However I think this is the question:
Does anyone know if coupons are included when the [Tesco] Price Promise is calculated?0 -
I think what the OP is saying is that Tesco price promise works by refunding items if they are more expensive elsewhere but if there is something that is cheaper it is deducted whereas if you do 2 shops buying only things that you know are cheaper elsewhere you are likely to get a bigger price promise.
My recent price promise had a few things that were more expensive but lots of things that were cheaper so no price promise voucher which is to be expected.
I am not sure whether vouchers are included in the price promise though OP, maybe someone can clarify?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I've been splitting out my shopping at Tesco for the last couple of months, as someone else has mentioned. For the 'non-offers' I tend to get a price promise voucher of about £1 - £2, although the last one I had was 48p! Special offers 'saved' around £10 each time, so this would have swallowed up the price promise vouchers. I don't think it takes off manufacturers coupons at the till, but I haven't had many coupons for months now - seems that they're dying a death these days.I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
Ahh, got it. Thanks Sarah
So the stuff that you know is cheaper elsewhere you put through separately to maximise the 'refund'.
Sounds like a bit of a carry on, but if you know what you're doing and can keep track of absolutely every single price of every item, in every store. Or don't mind waking around for an extra half hour, checking everything on Mysupermarket before you put it in your basket. And then keeping everything separate. And then packing and paying twice, all for 87p, then go for it!0 -
Theres a whole thread on the forum kind of dedicated to getting the most out of your shopping...
True its a case of splitting your shopping into expensive and items on offer but its also a case of targeting specific shops off against the competitor retailer for the maximum return on a sainsbobs BM Tes..PP or Asad APG...there is quite an art in achieving best results!
its one of the topics covered on the elite thread so you might want to take a look there and it might change your views on shopping and getting value for money
Ive been dabbling in it for a couple of months and its quite an eye opener as to how much you can save if you are able to put a bit of time and thought into it....I'm not so good with sain or A ...but most shops now will generate a PP at T for me of at least £5 plus on a £20 shop or thereabouts.
Vouchers are entered at the end of the transation when you pay...so it has no bearing on the PP or how it is calculatedfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
