Monday 23rd June - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

I forgot to add to my list that I have things to post for my RM surveys. I'm missing one envelope but as I'm now swimming in stamps I'm sure I can cope with sending one myself and finding the other one in my house sometime soon!
I'm puzzled with my money in terms of YNAB. I don't think I have extra money but I seem to have some left over. I'll need to hide my wages somewhere for a day or two (I get paid on Friday and my new YNAB month starts on the first) and see if that helps. I'm going to be over budget for food anyway this month. Bah!0 -
Hello all,
Hectic weekend with poorly hubbie out of action so didn't manage to post (and fell asleep on sofa three nights in a row).
Back at work today so earning not spending. Sons are at home, son 1 works Thursday to Sunday, son 2 has just finished sixth form college.
So this morning I just had to make my own packed lunch - yay!!
Have checked bank accounts, all is well. Hubbie's wage has just gone in and I'm hoping we can, with careful planning, manage to pay the deposit on son 2's university accommodation (approx. £600) without going further into debt next month. We are going to look at a room in a shared house on Saturday (he can't go into halls as the place he is going to don't have any so we are looking at rented rooms).
Son 1 has promised to do a slow cooker Bolognese for tonight.
Not planning any spends today.
Bets wishes to all x

Hello all!
Right today I -
Found out I have been successful for a job I applied for!
The DFW journey starts now. Funny, I didn't even consider myself 'in debt' because I have a 0% overdraft of £1.7k (student lending ) and a student loan overpayment of about £2k, 0% and not on credit file.
Even though these are 0% they do actually feel like a burden on me. I can't enroll at Open Uni apparently until my overpayment is paid back, and I don't feel good about having £1.7k overdraft debt!
Only annoying thing is I'm going to be starting on 18th Aug (my choice) so as to finish my CAB training. So I mustn't celebrate too soon
Instead today I will:
- Track down how much I owe and create a plan of how much I'm going to pay off.
- Set up first direct internet banking plus
- Update our budget to reflect having two incomes, and just generally update expenditure
- My job is with an insurance company so I get 1/2 price insurance with them, so going to get quotes for home, pet & car
Good luck all!:T0 -
