X box one query

Can anyone tell me the difference between an x box one with kinnect or without. I am looking to buy one for my sons birthday this week but don't know if I should hold off and get one cheaper without kinnect. Also where is the best place to sell an x box 360?
I posted a query to see if anyone had seen any good deals for x box one recently but it must have been moved and i cant find it so if anyone has seen any good deals, that would be really helpful too.
Thanks

Amazon are selling the xbox one with kinect and Titanfall for only £20 more than the xbox one without kinect.
If you buy xbox one without kinect and a game you will spend more. All depends whether your son would want Titanfall.0 -

the difference between an xbox one with a kinect and without a kinect is you can buy one for £429 with the big video camera sensor bar that you put at the bottom of your TV shelf facing you, and you can buy one for £349 that doesn't come with that big video camera sensor.
the device takes nothing away from the experience of playing video games. it was designed to allow you to show your face to other gamers online, tell the system to turn on by yelling at it "xbox on" or other things like "play game" without using the controller to traditionally select options. it's a gimmick. you don't need it. buy the cheaper one without it.
the best place to get the most value out of your xbox 360 and or collection of old games you don't want anymore is at a Game store (pink / purple text that says GAME). this is because they will give you reasonable in store credit which you can use towards a kinect-less xbox one making the overall purchase cheaper and hassle free.0 -
Thanks everyone. That was really helpful. Titan fall is one of the games he mentioned so Ill look at that deal but think if the connect is only really encouraging laziness I'm more inclined to go for the kinnect less model.0

"XBox, record that", is worth the extra £20 on it's own.0

It's more than that though, you won't be able to play Kinect sports or several of the other get up and move games that will come about.
On forza it can track head movements so you look left so does the driver. You may be able to get a second hand one but of you think you'll be playing sports or fitness/Zumba then it's worth it.
Although I'm sure my neighbours think I'm mad shouting xbox all the time.0 -
You can get dance/exercise games that will only work with Kinect and there is a free xbox fitness app that allows you to do exercise programs and it tracks how you are doing etc. It may make him (or others) less lazy. You can do the equivalent voice controls with the wireless controller that comes with it so it won't make him any lazier.
You'll pick up an xbox with Kinect for £350/370 easily enough0 -
Can pick up an Xbox One with Kinect for under £300 easily enough if you're willing to go pre-owned, if you go to Game you'll get a 12 month guarantee with it as well.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
