Post Office Mortgage Intermediarie

Hello,

Sorry for the novice question, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Post Office was considering allowing access of it's mortgage range to brokers.

Has this happened, and any idea if these products differ from what I would be offered directly? Has anyone had any experience of this?

I've found a link but as a newbie I'm not yet allow to post links.

I think a large number of brokers will have access to them. Im sure we do, although I have never used them.

Your able to compare the deals yourself though:

If you do not feel comfortable then it might be worth engaging a broker.

I think there are some minor differences from what I recall.

Is there any reason you want the post office?

  • I remember reading somewhere on the MSE site to check "Lenders that don't operate through brokers" included the PostOffice. Now I've discovered that some broker's can sell these.

I've curious, I've looking for a cheaper rate for a three or even five year fix at 80% LTV. My own basic research picked up the PostOffice as likely option. In fact I've a meeting booked in a local branch this wednesday, maybe I should cancel and take the broker option first.

Of course if I do use a broker I'm paying for the advice and knowledge to match me to the most suitable product, so I must listen carefully.

Its only recently they have started working with brokers.
At the minute they are doing it through certain channels - brokers who use the L&G mortgage club. So not every broker will have access to their deals.

  • I used the Post Office for my remortgage and it was all very straightforward.
  • We've just had a PO mortgage recommended to us through L&C.
