I'd like to make all sorts of things for presents this Christmas, so I will have to start soon - think knitting, sewing, crochet, etc. - but I usually start list making 1 August (yes, it's random, but it's personal!
).
Didn't manage to find anything any of us wanted in the sales, so will be mostly making cards and wrap again, the present list and quantities are reduced this year, but we will have our second grandchild by then, so thinking cap on already! I'm starting off sloe gin this weekend (sloes in freezer from last year), and will do bramble vodka as soon as they're ripe.
Don't know about our meals yet, DH has got a bee in his bonnet about going away, but we've not decided yet. If we are at home, it will be local joint of beef, assorted veg, yorkshires etc., fruit salad or home made mince pies for afters - just a vamped up Sunday dinner, really.October 2025 GC £36.83/£400

I've started buying presents at the car boot. Getting ready for when the youngest wants to give her whole class a present. She's generous with my money. Bless!0

I save for Xmas and birthdays all year round. Then when I see bargains in sales etc that I think would please a certain person I buy then.
Food shopping for Xmas I put £3 away every week and this usually pays for the turkey, beef and all the extras you like to have.0 -
I feel like a rarity no one I know starts early but I'm glad I did (started boxing day) because we've recently been told that my OH may be made redundant by October.
I have bought enough for my son (who will be almost 3.5) and we only buy for the kids in our family so only have 3 more children to buy for. I'm almost done for one of my cousin's I bought 2 craft sets and a hello kitty bag for her and it's cost me less than £4.
Foodwise I am buying something every week that I can put away. It's not just for christmas it's a back up for if my OH is made redundant. I also have a morrisons savers card (which I recently used so have to start again).Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

I have a savings card with my local supermarket so that covers me for the bits and bobs for Christmas dinner. I have started stocking up on the 'smellies' that will be wrapped up for aunties / uncles etc, these started in Jan in the sales. we are going on holiday in October so hoping to pick up some nice unique bits for closer relatives whilst we are there
. My christmas cards were also purchased in the Jan sales.

We give home made gifts at Christmas, so these have been made through the year - mainly jams, chutneys, liquers etc from allotment produce. I also always make my 3 brothers, my 2 BFs & my in-laws a Chrimbo cake, which tend to be made as soon as the fruit & marzipan etc goes on 3-4-2
and then get fed with cheapy brandy until December.
Our food shop is usually quite restrained - usually 2 or 4 of us, so no huge turkey dinner, more likely something that will give us cold cuts like goose or a piece of beef forerib (although the last 2 we've had have been a bit huge - more like dinosaur ribs!). We tend to eat well but simply IYKWIM, especially over the holidays, and would rather buy good ingredients for several meals than have one big blow-out.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
