My third and final diary...debt free by 25

Evening all!!

This is my third and final diary, I don't have a lot of debt, but I have very bad spending habits which mean I end up taking out payday loans far too often.

I've decided to take my head out of the sand once and for all after realising I don't have any savings to my name and nothing to show for myself even though I work and have no dependants.

I get paid on Tuesday so between now and then I need to make a list of what I need to buy and how much I plan to put in my separate savings account, I cant even remember what direct debits I have coming out - nightmare.

My overall goals are to:
  • Clear debts
  • Declutter and sell as many things as possible to make extra cash
  • Get out of the payday loan cycle
  • Save the remaining balance for Christmas Cruise

A little bit about me..
I'm 24, living in London at home with my mum, sister, niece and nephew. I work less than a mile away from home which is a bonus, I love my job, it doesn't pay a lot but it's secure and a very good company to work for. I've been with my boyfriend (Who is so much better at saving money than I am) for a few months but I've known him for a few years and I can see myself settling down and starting a family etc so I need to start saving for that.

None of my family, friends or boyfriend know the extent of my money management issues or the fact that I have any debts (Other than my student loan)

I don't really have a SOA because I don't pay out for anything important really, I just spend spend spend.

I'll be updating this diary as I go along with all sorts of ramblings about my day and how much I've spent, I think this will be the best way to keep myself on track and achieve my goals.

Enjoy the rest of your day lovelies x

  • I've just had a look at my credit report on Noodle and it says:

    National Westminster Credit Cards:
    £736.00 default
    Account start date: 01/01/2009
    Date of default: 14/12/2009

I was a very silly 19 year old and when offered a credit card, I stupidly agreed not really understanding what it all meant. I did receive debt collection letters regarding this debt months later and I'm 90% sure I paid it off thorough them. Should this be on my credit report still then? If not...what do I do?
