'Jobs UK' - is this another fake job site?.

Just been looking on UJM and a couple of jobs caught my eye. However, when clicking 'apply' I am taken to 'Jobs UK'. This site looks very shoddy and is carrying adverts for other sites such as reed.

Just wondering if I am wrong and the site is actually genuine.

Back in February Channel 4 News did an expose of fake job adverts on Jobsearch Direct aka Universal Job Match (UJM). Monster Inc. who run the website and had previously ignored all complaints about scam job adverts removed them all and started moderating the website.

Four months on the scammers have largely changed their tactics. Instead of posting fake jobs with ludicrous hourly rates they're now going to legitimate recruitment agencies, often via Indeed.co.uk, copying the job and pasting it on their own website. They then advertise the vacancy on Jobsearch Direct where it's free to advertise. Jobseekers follow the link, have to upload their CV (which then gets sold on for £1+) and then are redirected to the original website. Many of these vacancies are long expired so when jobseekers get redirected the vacancy doesn't exist.

Monster Inc. are being paid £6 million per year to run the website but are no longer prepared to moderate it because they think the heat is off.

Jobs.co.uk (which is what I think you meant) haven't got any jobs at all. They are merely collecting CVs to sell on at a profit.

Strike Jobs, Tip Top Jobs, Darren Bell Recruitment, [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM], London4jobs.co.uk are all copy and paste merchants. These are all [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM].

There's still the old style scam fake jobs about, which Monster Inc. are curiously happy to allow; like this one from Jobsunitedkingdom.co.uk. Ooh look you can earn £9.55 per hour and you get a pension.

What concerns me is that not only do they get your cv, they also your working email address and possibly home/mobile number (if included in cv) which can be separated and sold-on to gain even more money.

The old method of jobs being vetted prior to being listed may have been time-consuming but at least it filtered-out at load of the fake advertisers.
