hi
ive applied for various jobs as on job seekers so im using job match regularly.
ive received a call from a warehouse, it started of normal giving details of job, then started asking my details, full name, address, then prev address then dob, then said we need to do a identity check and wanted my bank details. I said not over the phone, he said il generate an application form and send it to you.
im pretty sure its a scam. I have his name and mobile number, but don't have job advert but its for a packaging company in Leicester.
is there a possibility it could have been genuine?
if it is a scam to get personal details, can he do anything with my full name, dob, past 3 years address?

If you found the vacancy on Jobsearch Direct there are two giveaways for scam jobs.
1. They are offering pay which is far above the National Minimum Wage. Scammers will typically offer anywhere between £7.50 and £12 per hour.
2. Copy and paste the job title into the search box on Jobsearch Direct and put UK for the area. If lots of entries come up all with exactly the same job description then it's a scam.
Additionally if you followed a link to a website where there's no contact address, phone number or privacy policy and all the vacancies are vague -shop assistant, cleaner, warehouse for instance - or there's none listed at all then it's 99% certain to be a scam. Here's an example of a scam advert and website:
https://jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/GetJob.aspx?JobID=8258759&JobTitle=Ironer+Cleaner&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fjobsearch.direct.gov.uk%2fhome.aspx&pp=25&tjt=cleaner&where=Ipswich%2c+Suffolk%2c+England&sort=rv.dt.di&rad=20&rad_units=miles&re=134&tm=14&pg=1&avsdm=2014-06-20T07%3a09%3a00-05%3a00

On the other hand if the advert just had a mobile phone number for contact then you should be wary.
If you keep a record on UJM, on the Activity History page, of all the jobs you've applied for including Job ID number if it's from Jobsearch Direct and web address if it's not you can then easily check back if there's a potential problem with an employer. Job Centre staff also like that sort of record because it makes their work easier.
The personal details that you've supplied shouldn't be enough for identity theft but the addition of bank account details would make it easier.0
