Hi, I just started a new job, I never got a copy of my contract, I still haven't received any wage slips but worst of all is my pay.
It is £min wage per hour.
I get to work and my boss, she writes down what time we get to each job and I get paid from the moment I start at the customers house to the moment we leave the customers house.
I started work the other morning at 06:30am, we got to the job at 07:00am and finished at 08:00am.
She then went to the bank and to the shops..... then she went to see her relative at her house, because of this we did not get to the next job until 15:00pm, we finished that job at 18:30pm
I worked from 06:30am until 18:30pm (a total of 12 hours)
I only got paid the 6 and a half hours for the job she wrote down (£41.00)
but I was technically at work for 12 hours, she drives me to the jobs etc but is very unprofessional and spends 2 hours cashing money at the bank.
Is this allowed? at the interview I was told start time is 09:00am until 17:30pm
This is not a one off... it is every single day, my first week I spent over 55 hours but got paid for only 27 hours.
Please help me, I worked Monday - Sunday (84 hours) but walking away with only £170.00.
Should I not be paid for traveling in-between jobs? instead of writing down what time we arrive and depeart from individual customers property's.
I keep asking for a copy of my contract but she ignores me or blames me for stressing her out,.
Help appreciated.

So between 08.00 and 15.00, you did no work?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Quit now .. then sign on and explain why..
This 'employer' is taking the p...... and it sounds as if you are yet another victim of the zero hours contract ( if you had one) brigade..
What job are you doing?0 -
Hi, It is a Landscaping Horticulture role, the company I work for are charging £20.00 per hour per person but only pay me £6.31.
If I was to leave I don't think that I would be able to get support from the Jobcentre plus.
Employee rights are not my expertise but I would presume that working 12 hours Monday to Sunday would be Illegal on its own.
I am slaving away 12 hours a day just for my own existence, £170.00 per week (If I work 12 hours Mon - Sun ) will lead me into a life time of debt if I can not find a way out fast.
What can I do?0 -
Here is another example.
One week, we had a Bank Holiday, the next day the boss said everybody is off work for family reasons, the following 3 days we got rained off, I worked the Saturday and the Sunday and walked away with approximately £60.00 for the whole week.
This didn't even cover my childcare charges never mind accommodation utility's and food for the week. when the weather is bad I have to be in stand-by mode all day, bascially dressed with my telephone in my hand as I could get a call at any moment asking me to be ready within 20 minutes, due to this I can not keep my toddler away from nursery when the weather is foretasted to be bad just in-case they decide I have to work.
I have tried to speak to my boss about this, her English is not the best but every time I mention it she shouts at me and blames for for causing stress to herself, she clearly doesn't give toss about anything.0 -
You need to quit, you arent earning enough money to live on and that makes it pointless having the job. Speak to the job centre and explain the issue, I think you will find they would be helpful as you wont be the first person to have been tricked like this xx0

You could try calling the government's Pay and Work Rights Helpline and see what they say.
This page explicitly says that time spent travelling from one work assignment to another does count as working time, so I think you should be paid for it. I'm not an expert on this though!0 -
The above.
If they are not paying you then you need to be free to do what you want so get them to drop you and pick you up again when needed. If they can't do that then they need to be paying you.
If they have been doing this for some time with others a min wage investigation could cost them.

So what are you doing in between client sites? Tagging along behind her?
Can you not suggest that if she has errands to do, she drops you at the next job, shows you what to do, and joins you later?Signature removed for peace of mind0
