Question about my 1st Senior Concessionary Trave Pass

To-day I have received my pass what I want to know is it activated now or do I have to wait until 6th July my actual state-pensin age. Don't want it to get rejected on the bus and get shown up.

From what I have read and understood your pass will not be active until the actual state pension age so I would say that you will need to wait for 06/07/2014 to enjoy it.
I think that the idea of letting people apply in advance is so that you have the pass on your birthday thus allowing you to travel to all the people in the area that were kind enough to send you a card and gift without having to use too much of your gift money ;0)
Enjoy many happy years of free or cheap travel :0)

Your birthday is irrelevant.


If your DOB was between 6/5/52 and 5/6/52 then your buss pass is active from 6/7/14

The dates are relevant only to the OP!

But glad you are getting your money's worth while you can.

I'd have thought that if it doesn't have a start date on it it's valid now.

They are chipped.

Any not valid get rejected by the card reader.

The reaction of my local bus drivers to a problem card is that their machine's not working and to wave the passenger through.


But you may well be right on a more general level
