Thank you for all your replies!
I thought I would have to send a letter personally but wasn't sure If I should go back to Pay Plan first.
Does anyone have any tips on who to send it too, a general department or named person etc? Should I send it recorded delivery? What type of language should I use (apart from English, lol) the tone of the letter.
Obviously I will be polite and respectful, but as much as I know I'm totally at fault for running up the debt, I do think on reflection now that Barclays were irresponsible lenders. For example, the week before we sought help and found Pay Plan , they talked me into and gave me a £10K debt consolidation loan (that I couldn't afford). I suppose what I'm saying is should I mention this and say I'm willing to work with them but they have to meet me halfway as they were at fault too?
I'm thinking a nice polite letter at first, unless you advise otherwise. I wouldn't want to aggravate them, they have frozen interest on other accounts, loans etc.
Any advice or anecdotes will be appreciated! Many thanks.Think like a man of action; act like a man of thought.0 -

Hello, the credit card debts probably go back to around 2005, I think.
You could make a CCA request (a formal request for a copy of the original agreement).
This may be of benefit you, as :
(A) It automatically puts the account on hold.
(B) They cant enforce the agreement until they have complied with your request.
(C) If there are any issues with obtaining the correct paperwork, or it no longer exists, it puts you in a much better position to negotiate.
A formal request will cost you £1 statutory fee, payable by cheque or postal order, the template letter is available here :

Hi,
If you go on the dmp mutual support thread 10 and select thread 9, on page 105 there is template letter you can use for this purpose.
Hope that helps.
Puzz
