I am trying to get away from relying so much on supermarkets.
I have found several houses locally that sell fruit, veg and eggs, and have found a local butcher that is a tiny bit cheaper than Tesco.
I still rely on Aldi and morrisons for tinned goods though.
I am wondering if anyone else has started relying less on the supermarkets, and how it is going for you and your family?

seem to get better value on meat packs / cheese, at little butchers, on same road as the big shops!
(if in Brighton, check out M&B Meats I think they are called- London road, opposite the open market)- various 2for1 on chicken, wide range of sausages etc.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I don't like local butchers, because they keep their meat in the window with the sun on it, and sometimes there are flies and wasps milling about.0

Thanks for the feedback
our butchers don't have anything on display in the windows, its all in the chiller cabinets or freezer.
They do things that I am not familiar with, like shanks and things like that, when I have been used to buying chicken breast.0 -

I don't rely on them, could and do shop elsewhere, but I like supermarkets, especially the yellow stickers. :j
