debt has been sold..help needed

Hi there
I have just had a letter off a company i owe money to (direct auto finance) saying they have sold my debt to a different company.
My problem is that I had a sherrifs officer come round in march asking me to fill in court papers to say if i acknowledged the debt and could pay full amount or fill in a form asking for time to pay and an amount per month.
I gave them an SOA and told them how much i could pay.
3 weeks later i gat a letter from the sherrif and was told that the company was going to decide wether to accept my offer and if they didnt i would get a hearing date.
so now what happens.
if they have sold my debt does this mean it wont go to court
do i contact the new company and offer them the same amount
or do i leave it til they contact me again
sorry its so long winded any help would be great
thanks for reading
