Should I check my credit files? Now?

And all of them??

I'm due to re-mortgage in a few months (end August) but am getting conflcitng opinions as to whether its a good idea or not. Does it leave a trace, or are the potential pitfalls of leaving it bigger than the impact of multiple searches?

Is there an optimal time to do it?

Would appreciate thoughts!
Thanks :)

Checking your own credit file does not leave a mark so from that point of view, check away :)

Just order the statutory files and do not be taken in by subscription services which offer to provide your credit score. These numbers are indicative as best and meaningless at worst.

Lenders build their own score from your overall application data, not just what's on your credit file.

Thanks very much both of you. (I was going for the full reports for the cashback... but maybe not then)

I think the only things it will show are two very-slightly late credit card payments - literally a day or so (although I know this is no excuse, and bad news, and DD now set up to prevent in future)

One was 8 months ago, and one more like two years ago - everyting else, inclduing mortgage payments should be fine - this is more worrying, yes?
