what do you guys think of matte nail polish/ top coat?

I'm undecided whether I like it or not and I'm thinking about buying a matte top coat.. do you like the trend or do you think that glossy nails is the way to go?!

Matte looks awful after a day or two. Tried revlon and another one from boots (can't remember, I gave it away) and they looked horrible after a couple of hours, and after around a day I had to take them off.

I really like a matte finish, I've a number of matte finish polishes and a matte top coat, it certainly doesn't chip as easily as high shine polishes do. I find it lasts longer than high shine too.

I have a couple of matt polishes and just bought barry m matt top coat which i've not used yet but i love my matt colours.

I think its just a personal preference thing though.

I brought a rimmel matte top coat from boots a few years ago - I've only worn it once though.

I think it depends on what colours you use the matte top coat with - to see what looks good.

Deoends on the polush - Some darker colours like navy and blood read I find look lovely in a matte finish - Lighter ones not so much. I tend to use Essies "Matte About You" and not actually bother buying any proper matte polishes so I can chop and change as I want to!

I don't actually see the point in it - to me it looks like you've smudged your nails while they were drying.
Glossy finish is much better, and looks a lot neater.

I did buy a Barry M matte top coat, but I didn't really like it! think I'll stick to glossy! xx
