All ready for next Monday

Hi all

Ok so i've finished the forms and sorted the fees. I've just had a final chat with Stepchange who were very helpful and reassuring as usual.

All I have to do now is get 3 copies of the forms. I've asked around at libraries and its looking like 15p a copy is pretty standard so i'll be spending around £18. I guess its a small price to pay for what will follow.

I'm meeting my "hand-holder" tomorrow to go over details of where we'll meet up on Monday. She's already sorted her childcare so that's done.

I've got the 9:30am appointment so hopefully it'll all be over and we'll be having breakfast by 10:30.

Oh, mustn't forget to withdraw the money.

WW

I know it says 3 copies, but CAB were adamant I only needed 2, one for court and one for myself, which was all I did need. And yes, shop around as you can probably get them copied at 5p...or go to CAB and they will copy for you.

Don't assume that you will be having breakfast by 10:30am, the way it worked at my court was that you had your interview with the administrator who checks your paperwork, takes your fees, and then see the judge at a time they give you. They did paperwork checks for the people that were there for BR up until 11:30-12, then we all had to go and wait on the judge from 12 noon onwards, in order of your morning appointments. So whilst you may be able to go and get breakfast please be aware that you will probably have to return to the court later. So check out in advance places you may want to get a bite to eat/drink in the interim and check the time it will take you to get back to the court to see the judge.

I was in getting my paperwork checked for around 5 minutes, others for much longer. So if all is in order you may have a good wait between your interview and the judgement, but a 9:30 paperwork appointment means you'll also probably be 1st on the list to see the judge. I was told the judge doesn't always want to see everyone, but he saw every single applicant the day I went (I was last on the list).

    Oh, and good luck!

Thanks for this information. I've done the copying now so thats all sorted.

It was the courts that told me I'd be out within the hour so that's all i'm going off. I'm free until 2:30 so hopefully that'll be plenty of time but thank you for the advance warning.

Update: I've just rung the court to confirm my appointment and asked how long i'll be. She said i'll be all done by 10:15 so thats good news.

That's good news, your court must work differently, i.e. paperwork check/pay fees and straight to the judge. I just wanted you to know that it may not be an hour based on my experience, which was around 3hrs total.
