This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning All
Another beautiful morning here - it was fantastic yesterday although it did get a little warm (and surprisingly didn't rain!). Hoping for a repeat performance from the weather today, I have a line full of washing out and am going to Edinburgh Zoo with the school today.
Just finished the ironing, it's lovely to do it when it's cool, DW emptied and herbs, strawberries and other tubs watered. Going for a shower in a mo then getting the packed lunches organised. I think I am going to have to lug an ice pack round with me to try to keep my salad cool.
tru - your chicken made me chuckle!
JackieO - Pleased to hear you enjoyed your weekend, hope DD recovers very soon.
Judi - Congrats to 'youngest'.
LW - Are you back from chocolate and beer tasting?
Mrs LW - Hope you have had a better night with your dog.
Anyway, must make tracks, have a good day everyone, hope you are all well. Take care. XX0 -
Good Morning chums, bit overcast at the moment but no cold or wet yet .after the school run I shall go to see Dd and see if there is anything she needs doing. She is very stiff and sore but so glad to be home .Tonight is quiz night which I always enjoy as for £2.00 we have the quiz and usually a plate of pasta or a baked potato so no too much cooking to do today. I'm a real cheap date
:):)
Just looked at the calendar, and its only 8 weeks this Friday until we go on holiday, really looking forward to going back to the IoW again.
Well time for breakfast and a shower then the school run.Have a good day everyone and <<hugs>> for those down or blue and congrats for birthday folk
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Morning all
Bright here atm but the sky looks very dark over yonder, think we are due some rain, I am still full of cold but now have a horrible stiff neck to go with it, I am due to go into work today but I shall give it half an hour and see how I feel.
Dinner tonight will be something with lamb mince have no idea what, might do some kind of curry based meal.
Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer, and post more ebay parcels.
Have heard from dd she is having a fab time its very quiet here !
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Up bright and early this morning. Yesterday was tiring, there was a 2 hour waiting to see the urologist a the hospital yesterday. Two clinics had been merged into one. By the time we came out it really wasn't worth hubby going back to work so we spent the remaining afternoon wandering round car showrooms. Typical, he's just paid £200 to have the windows tinted on the one he's got. He's going to see one on Saturday that is awaiting preparation but I hope he changes his mind by then.
Todays plan is that I am going to do what I was going to do yesterday. Clean the carpets and bath the dogs. I might not get much else done but at least the dogs and carpets are clean. Since having the cavity wall insulation, every doggy whiff lingers and I don't tollerate smells.
Onwards and forwards but still knackered from yesterday,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all,
Not been on for a while, but have been reading
LAMEWOLF - Beer and Choc holiday, sounds just about perfect
JACKIEO - Glad it all worked out at the weekend and DD is on the mend
JUDI - Love hearing about the baby house and thumbs up for DS too
Love n hugs to all in general.
We,ve had a busy weekend, its was festival weekend which means we get approx 50,000 additional visitors (not personally) lovely vibe, but roads can be a nightmare, DS2 was camping at festival for the first time, but came home everyday for a shower and a kip (wuss).
It was DD,s 18th too, so it was partytime for her.
OH and I are in full on wedding mode, we only realised last Sat that its only 11 weeks away, and apart from booking the date and the meal we,d done sod all, I even sent the dress back as I wasn,t happy. We,re back on track now - the internet is brill - invites, cake, favours, decorations, etc all done and remarkable cheap - i,m doing the flowers I refuse to pay £16 for a flaming buttonhole........ And a lovely dress is being altered to make me 6 ft tall and a size 10............ Or not
Enough of my chuntering on.....
Have a fab all all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, broken cloud with some blue sky and sun trying to shine every now and then, still cool.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was a naughty chicken and chips takeaway from the famous shop – was all very nice, and we collected it on the way back from my parents as we visited and met DH there after he’d finished work. Dad was pleased with his prezzie and they had a lovely holiday.
Dinner tonight will be the pork chops we should have had last night, potatoes, veg and gravy.
Work yesterday wasn’t too bad, although we were steady not manic, but the new system coped with what we had yesterday but it definitely won’t cope with anything busier – we shall wait and see. I’m working at the other office today.
I have 2 big bags of clothes to take to cash for clothes – I’ll be putting them in the boot of my car today, so I can drop them off on the way home from work tomorrow afternoon – when I work my 2 long days they are already closed by the time I’m on my way home, so unless I make a special trip my half day is the only day I can go – interested to see how much it’s worth!
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit cloudy out but very warm so I already have the fan going. I really suffer in the heat and my legs swell up horribly so I shall just be pottering around today. My DD13 is home from school today as she is unwell _pale_ so I will be taking the opportunity to give her lots of cwtchs and cuddles.
JackieO, I was very happy to hear your DD is well on the way to full recovery, it must have been very worrying for you.
MrsLW - I hope poor Docky had a better night. My lovely old dog has been a bit frazzled for the past couple of days and is not eating much. I think he is finding the heat difficult too.
Well, I must ring the school to let them know DD won't be coming in so I will love you and leave you. Take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:

Jackie I'm glad your DD is OK xx
Hester That's awful. Are any of them actually paying any attention to the poor woman they're arguing over?

I caught up with the accounts yesterday, so glad that's done, there were receipts everywhere.
I've made lots of flowers, they look a bit boring as they are so I'll string them into a garland today. I also made a little hedgehog but it was a disaster so I unravelled it. I've decided to leave the chicken's eyes as they are, I quite like the look of surprise on her face, lol. I've called her Polly

We pulled up some garlic and whizzed it with olive oil, froze it in little blobs on a tray then put them into a freezer bag. We've never frozen it before, not sure if some flavour will be lost? We'll see, if it does then I'll plait the rest and hang in the kitchen.
The tomato plants need attention, they've grown loads of leaves that need cutting off so I'll sort them today.
First, need more coffee.
