Was the reference untrue or misleading? Are you applying within the same LEA?

I haven't seen a copy of my reference but I can imagine what it says. I have had a lot of sickness recently due to panic attacks in school.

How can you say that your reference is poor when you don't know what it said? They may not withdraw the offer so stop panicking and wait until you actually know what you are dealing with.

It's not compulsory to stay in teaching, you can do something else.

The world is full of former teachers who've had enough of teaching... personally I didn't get past the training phase of becoming a teacher. There are plenty of other jobs out there. It sounds like being a teacher is far too stressful for you to cope with. Good luck, I hope things get sorted for you soon.

Then you'll need to ask for a copy to see what it says. A reference can be negative as long as it is true.

I would agree that you do not sound suited to teaching. I would also keep in mind that, even if a reference reads well, senior teachers across your area will know each other - a lot can be said off the record that could influence the chances of you getting another job.

You don't know what the reference said, but you do know you have had a lot of sickness recently? Could it not be that they are withdrawing the offer due to that?
