Lloyds and TSB Double charges

Hi all.

Moneyineptitude suggested I posted here.

Basically we are in BIG financial poo (currently £30 to feed 5 for the next 14 days )

I am about to take the bull by the horns and request a refund of all our bank charges from Lloyds bank, as the added charges are causing us to go over the over draft each month & these are just spiraling out of control.

Now we have been hit with a double wammy just when we can leest cope with it, and under the circumsatnces, I don't think they are fair or should even be charged.

Basically We were with TSB since Noah's days, which then became Lloyds TSB. Having moved away from our original branch we didn't transfer to our local branch as they told us there was no need & were quite happy to deal with pensions & (now cancelled ISA's). They also arranged a loan for my husband when he went in, although I already had a much smaller one that I had arranged on line.

However after the split, OUR bank became Lloyds, but the local branch became TSB.

They kept my loan with our bank account, but transfered my husbands loan over to TSB.

Now after some true disasters, we have been late paying the loan to TSB for a few months now, so we are always 1 month behind. (What I mean is, the loan isn't paid on the 3rd of the month because of charges & so we get a DD returned fee applied. I always pay it at the end of the month, leaving us short, to pay the next months payment etc.)

But then TSB are also charging us £25 a time for late payments. This would never have happened if the loan was kept with OUR account.

I am asking them also to stop the charges ( because we have been late a few times they will not grant us a payment holiday), but I do feel we are being penalised twice for 1 missed payment.

Also I noticed today, we had £3 left in the account but the bank took unpaid DD fees, OD interest charges out etc, which sent us over the limit of our OD & they are now charging us daily for that as well. Is this allowed?

Do I stand a chance with TSB as we never asked our loan to be moved to a different bank account from the original?

Thanks.

( PS Although we are in severer hardship now, even more so as my FIL has just passed away & we need to travel the country for the funeral etc, I have just secured a job & will be bringing in £600 PM. but not until another 6-8 weeks. Is it at all likely that TSB will consider this & reconsider a payment holiday.

It is sad but my family would be better off if I dropped dead then at leest the insurance payments would help.

Jojo

    Hi,
Sorry to hear of your situation, I would send a written complaint to Lloyds/TSB detailing your concerns, also tell them there actions are leaving you in a position where you are not able to pay your essential living expenses, if you don't tell them, they wont know, also request an immediate refund of charges.
You must emphasise how badly this is affecting you, and what TSB can do to put things right, they have a duty of care to treat customers in financial difficulty fairly, and clearly this is not happening.
