If not, then of course you can get a job.

Unsure what the job market is like where you live Billjones, but in my part of the country its practically non existent, I got my present job 4 years ago, and 450 people applied for it, I was extremely lucky, the employment situation varies throughout the uk, you cant go making sweeping statements like that.

    Thank you.

I also battle with anxiety and depression which doesn't help either.
However, I do look for work and apply when I can. I find people have to actually offer you employment in order for you to work ;)

My current job is a nice one it's just that it's seasonal. If I could get a part-time or full-time position with my current employer, then I would.

    In short, I'm not work-shy.

    Hi BR

I have replied via pm, but just offer them a tiny amount. We only pay £50 per month and they were happy with that.

I think you need to start using your co-op account as your main banking account, any money you get paid, put it in your new account and work out of there.

Write to Barclays explaining your financial hardship and offer them a small amount you know you can pay, and ask if they can freeze charges & interest while you are struggling.

If you have to pay these charges your situation will just get worse like ours did. You need to make the change.

    Good luck xxx

Sorry, I don't mean to be patronising, but along with your "kept woman" comment I'd read your responses as meaning that working was just "not your thing".

Can't you even find bar work, packing work in a warehouse, or that sort of thing?

I know that these may not be ideal, but without a steady wage, you are really going to be struggling.

As I've mentioned on here before, I'm from the North East, and although I no longer live and work there, I have a huge extended family and an awful lot of friends up there, not one of whom is out of work. When losing their jobs, no-one's had to look for more than a week or so, so I just don't accept this picture of there being nothing available.

They often have to pick something that's not their dream job, but out of the several hundred people I know, none are out of work. I simply do not believe that an able bodied person can go for more than a day or two without finding a job.

I usually get told that I'm too old and/or too over qualified.

I saw a cleaning job advertised the other day at an out of town location, so own transport required, they were paying the princely sum of £3.74p an hour, so obviously targeting a young person with a push bike, I don't see a rush of applicants personally !!!

Sharklays are awful t odeal with.

Open a basic account with Nationwide or Co Op. They are fair to people on low income/benefits.
