Salary question - please help

Hi,

firstly apologies if this has been answered before (but I have looked but can't find an answer!:))

in my employment I am entitled to High Cost Allowance, is this taxable? and can anyone direct me to any websites that explains this further?

Thanks in advance

  • All income is taxable, and you get a tax free amount so you get taxed on anything above that.

What is your wage, the allowance and your tax code?

Thanks for the replies - and yes, I think it is similar to London Living allowance.

I trying to work out what id be paid this month as my pay has been cut without notice so am panicking about the bills!! So according to my contract im now being underpaid :( however when I spoke to Payroll they said 'authorisation came from HR to cut the pay and they don't see employee's contracts', and when I get in contact with HR they keep fobbing me off....they are not able to see me this month as they are 'extremely busy'.......
surely this is not right? they can't just cut someone's pay without giving any notice? so any advice in how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated. :)
