Hello, not sure if this is the best place in the forum... any techie here know of a good inexpensive hosting package? Looking for the cheapest around as at the moment I am very strapped for cash for my business. Hostgator is a bit too expensive at $10 a month
My site won't be big, just a few pages, no forum or interactive comments, so I don't need a massive contract
Thank you

Depends on what you're looking for in it and whether you're designing it yourself. I've recently joined Create.net for their 30 day free trial, going then be signing up for one of their packages. There's a "micro" package available on their site;

I can say now that the templates are really good and they give you a lot of controls that let you change the appearance with just a click, I'm useless at HTML so it's ideal for me.
Alternatively I know a lot of people that have used Wordpress as a platform for a site, you can get free templates online but I would imagine customising them is a bit more difficult.0 -
I'll design it myself yes, tight budget here so I try to do as much as I can myself !
I guess I can install Wordpress in Create.net ?
Thank you for your help0 -
I recently signed up to LCN - bought a domain with someone else, i think you have to either buy a domain with them or have a top level domain to transfer or point to them, but if you go through this link it's £1.20 for the whole first year as a birthday offer they still have going.. hope it may be some help

FYI, Hostgator was bought out by EIG (Endurance International Group) in 2012 and their quality of service has rapidly declined. The internet is full of people complaining about the downtime and poor quality of support which HG now has.
I would recommend that you find a host which isn't owned by EIG. A list of the hosts which are owned by EIG are on Wikipedia below.

Some quality cheap hosts to consider are
Siteground
Stablehost
CrocWeb

I am with GoDaddy and for £11 a year I bought my domain, privacy for my contact details and hosting for a year as well as Word Press help. I'm very happy!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

If you do not mind no bells and whistles you could try these guys, they tend to be funded by the bigger fish and those who want more functionality but it should get you started, there are also some people on board who also do cheap hosting for small sites for a couple of dollars a month if you ask around.

By far the cheapest would be to host it on google sites and have your own domain point to that. It will be much quicker than any of the cheap hosting options. This way will only cost around £4 a year for the domain.0
