... Apart from making sure I arrive at work in good time, take breaks/lunch at designated times, are there other things I need to take into consideration? What about the usual 'office politics'? ...
This one is the one that always puzzles me - obviously nobody wants to be late on their first day, but whenever I've started work I've arrived before the person who was supposed to be looking after me, and then had to hang around in reception feeling like an idiot waiting for them!
Apart from that, I'd echo the advice you've been given - smile a lot, try not to look bored, take a bottle of water and a notepad, and try to remember as many names as you can.0 -
It was a VERY long time ago, so the signage may not have been as comprehensive as it is now. I dare say I had vaguely registered signs, but only very vaguely, and really you did need to be shown otherwise you would never believe that this was a way out!noelphobic wrote: »Genuinely not being sarcastic or facetious here, just a little puzzled. I confess I had completely forgotten our most recent new starter, and that I was supposed to be working with them first because their line manager is off sick.
But we're a friendly bunch, they'd been shown all the important bits like the kettle and the loos and their induction folder! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
