New job before mortgage completes???

I am in the process of buying a newbuild property. It will not be ready to move into until December. I have had my mortgage offer and I am due to exchange contracts in the next few days. I am considering applying for a new job though. The job is a higher salary than I am currently on (£5K a year more) although my travel expenses would be higher but in the long term the prospects are much better. If I was to get the job and be offered it and start before my house purchase completes would I be leaving myself at risk of having my mortgage offer withdrawn?

It will depend on the lender.

You would have to let the lender know of your change, and it would be their decision.
  • It is Santander. Perhaps I should give them a call and ask them about it.

Santander should be okay as long as you are in same profession(and ofcourse drawing more salary than before). Atleast It didnt matter for mine!
