Apprenticeship employer problem

Hi and thanks for reading.

My daughter started an apprenticeship at a hair salon, which she found herself. to cut a long story short she has left the salon after the way she was treated there as in extra long hours and working her butt off for little reward and the boss talking to her like she was nothing. She left and worked her weeks notice on the sick with stress as she couldn't face her boss again. She received 2 pay slips one for £42 which has been paid. And another for £242 for holiday pay owed, my daughter has text and rang her ex boss which she mostly ignore's. She had answered her phone once and her that the money would be sent Friday
And in her account Tuesday 10th June. And still nothing and still ignoring calls and texts. My daughter refuses to go in and confront her about it. My daughter is 17 and I'm looking to help in the correct way.

Any advise would be great, we have been to the CAB and was a waist of time really.

Thank you.

Dave

A Letter Before Action and then a small claim should get their attention...!

Thank you for reply. Are there any templates on here for the letter to send before I got to the small claims court? Just want to word it right and not soon threatening if you know what I mean.

    Thx again.

    Dave.

Brilliant thank you. I will write the letter this evening, and should I send it record delivery?

Yes definitely, otherwise you can bet they'd claim they never received it...!
    Good luck

You can try and send it recorded delivery but they could refuse to accept delivery. If you send it normal post, from 2 different post offices (get a free proof of postage receipt from both) then that is enough to satisfy the small claims courts you did send a Letter Before Action.

Good luck, I have a relative (my cousins daughter) who was in exactly the same situation as your daughter. It's disgusting that some employers see a young person desperate to work and learn then exploit them and refuse to pay them what they are owed. She now has an apprenticeship with a new salon which she found via her local collage, which has been totally vetted and if she has any problems (not that she has in the year she's been with them) she can go to the collage for support. Maybe your daughter could try the colleges close to you for a new apprenticeship?
I'm not an AE I'm just an idiot who forgot to update email details, went away for a bit and then tried to come back after the old laptop died :o:rotfl:
