Hypnosis for binge-eating

I occasionally suffer from binge-eating,which is something that really upsets me.It usually happens late in the evening when I'm feeling tired.Instead of going to bed, sometimes I head to the kitchen and start eating mindlessly, which seems ridiculous.I think that doing this stems from me doing nights for years.I was never happy about having a sleep during the shift, and about 4 am would feel like death warmed up,so I would eat instead, which certainly helped me feel more alert.I really want to break this habit.Distraction doesn't work that well.I struggle with trying to go to bed earlier (which is another issue),but I know that this would help a lot.
So,I'm thinking about trying hypnosis.Has anyone else tried this, and did it help?
Thanks.

Let me know if you have any luck. I'm generally averse to what I see as quackery, but...

Hi Marmite
Hypnosis can help. I've had it for a similar problem. One thing I would say is that you won't stop this habit without putting a bit of effort in yourself too. Hypnosis isn't a magic wand
If you live on your own try buying only the food you need, one meal or day at a time. Bit of pain, I know but if you have no food in the house, you can't binge!
If this isn't possible, try to have low calorie or healthy snacks on hand
Put huge notes on the kitchen door, cupboards, fridge etc to remind yourself that you want to cut down. When you see & read the notes, it should hopefully jog you out of mindless eating and make you stop & think about your choices. Might not stop you eating but you might eat less or make a healthier choice.
Hypnosis can definitely help (you might need several sessions) but as I say, it won't work on it's own.
Good luck!:)
BTW - I've gone from size 12/14 - 8/10 using a combination of all of the above so for me, it works0 -

Exactly right! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Thanks for all your helpful advice.
I haven't definitely decided to do it.There's someone I want to speak to next week first.
I am aware that there's a lot I can do/need to do myself.I have tried putting up signs on the cupboard and fridge doors, saying: 'You're not really hungry. What is really going on?Think about it.'.
The problem is,that when I'm in binge mode,I just don't see them. They might as well not be there, for all the good they do.I think I'll put them back up again though. You never know.
What I think could help me,is saying to myself:'Just wait 5 minutes',and see if I still want to binge, then wait another 5 minutes, and so on,until the urge passes.I think that that could work. It's something I haven't really tried.
Sometimes brushing my teeth helps.
I eat well,so it's not a rebound thing,due of restricting.
I had a medium-sized binge last night.I'll just see what today holds for me.I'm feeling confident.:)
A day at a time...
PS Just buying food for one day wouldn't be something I could do.I tend to batch cook.0
