Credit report

Forgive me for asking what has probably been asked 5 million times but I am fairly new and accessig the site from work so i don't have time to scroll through millions of pages.

I just got my experian credit report from my free trial (greasypalm of course). On it are a LOT of things that are marked 'settled' is there anyway to remove them?? Why are they still there. They are from 2001.

Just for info I am not in any debt or anything and there is nothing bad on the report.

Thanks so much for your help.

  • Dont worry, the defaults from 2001 will fall off your report at the end of this year. It takes 6 years from the default date for them to be removed regardless of if they are settled or not.

The whole point of the settled defaults are there as a warning to other creditors you may ask for credit to show that there have been problems in the last 6 years, but it has been sorted out.
    Starting debt @ LBM: £8436.51 (8/5/7)
    Barclaycard: £5804.52 (May 07) - 6.9% LOB Now: £5315.25
    Egg: £1640.99 (May 07) - 1.9% May 08 - Now: £1242.69
    [strike]Barclays O/D: £991dr (May 07) - 16.9% - Now: £0.00[/strike]
    Debt August 07 £6557.94
Aim: To Clear Barclays OD by Nov 2007! Realistic DFD: August 2009
  • But non of them have been defaults. They are all status 0 (payment up to date).

I just fail to see why these are still on there as I have actually only got a mortgage, current account and credit card now. Why am I still seeing things from years ago that I used to have and have now paid off in full. No defaults no badness

If they're all status 0 and show as settled this shows banks that you are creditworthy and can be regarded as +ve data, you really want this sort of stuff on your account.
