Quick question this one - can HSBC mortgages be completely carried out online or do you need to go to branch at some stage?
This is for a remortgage.

I'm currently going through the process of a remortgage (albeit from an original HSBC mortgage) and you can do it all online.
A word of warning though, I've had a huge number of problems using HSBC - at the moment they are swamped with applications. I didn't go in branch because the nearest appointment was a month away(!) and when I had submitted all my documents, it took them close to a month to get looked at by an underwriter.
Plus it is very hard to get through to them on the phone, hold times are VERY long.
But if you don't have any deadlines to work to, they're ok0 -
I would imagine that at some point they would need to verify your ID, hence you would need to pop in branch. I could be wrong so if anyone has first hand experience, feel free to correct me."If you will change, everything will change for you." - Jim Rohn
I simply use these forums to share my knowledge, reinforce my learning and experience as an IFA. Please remember, if your circumstances are complex, speak with your local IFA from Unbiased or VouchedFor directories for regulated financial advice.0 -
If you're remortgaging from an existing HSBC mortgage, you can do it all online.
If you're new to HSBC, you'll need to go into a branch to get your ID checked etc.0 -
We did ours over the phone so imassuming similar to online. We had to go into our nearest branch to show ID and for them to take copies of our payslips. This was pre MMR rules though.0
