Hair colour advice ...please :)

I usually colour my dark brown (greying) hair with a dark reddish colour. Decided this time to just go dark glossy dark brown - but alas it has turned out a rather flat dark brown which I really dont like. Wish now I had gone for my usual colour - wondering if I would be wise to colour over the dark brown - would the red show through. Dont want to start messing with stripping my hair as it it very thick and coarse and dont want to dry it out any more. Colouring usually makes it nice and glossy and easier to manage for a few weeks.
Thanks in advance :A

How dark is it?
As someone who has been every shade of red, brown, auburn etc I would not dye it again but instead tint/stain it.
If it's quite dark, get a pot of Directions in a red colour (you might need two). It will tint your head a red colour over the top of the brown. It won't strip any colour, which means you won't be damaging your hair. You need to be very careful because hair can go all sorts of funny shades (such as green) if you dye it over again too quickly or try to lighten it.
Hair stain is just as it says, a stain. So it won't strip anything out and has no chemicals.

Plenty of colours to choose from. Rubine's are particularly nice.0 -

They aren't really a stripper I dont think, it shrinks the microscopic dye particles down and the rinsing enables them to be washed out (this is the most important step)
It might go a bit gingery though if you have ever had highlights or used dyes with peroxide in them, I usually just put a semi permanent over. It does smell horrid though:D
It is a stripper. And it won't strip certain brands (live xxl etc).Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Has no chemicals?! You are aware that everything is made up of chemicals, don't you? Air, water, food........Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
it is quite dark but I am naturally dark anyway (its just the greys !!) - like the look of the rubins - do you apply all over like a normal dye ? - is it stocked in chemists or would i need to order online.
I used nice and easy foam - would colour b4 work on it ? - even if it lightened it enough to put on a red.0 -
Colourb4 should work.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
