When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

I'll get a list done once I'm up and dressed properly. I hope there's not another thread already - I looked but there's a spammer on the board who has been keeping himself quite busy and I couldn't see our wee thread anywhere

Morning :wave: thanks for starting us off moomin!
Hurrah it's a beautiful day and Thursday already :j Have a meeting to go to this morning with my manager - complete waste of time, but am being paid to kill time at the moment & I will get around £35 expenses for max £10 of petrol :T
DFW things for today:
* [STRIKE]checked banking & cc statement[/STRIKE] - no surprises
* [STRIKE]have a bath & wash my hair [/STRIKE]- probably going to blow dry as fancy being straight haired for a few days! arrrgggghhhh! My hairdryer stopped working after I dried the first 3 sections! This is a disaster and am going to have to get another if changing the fuse doesn't work
* check onepoll
* do a job search
* [STRIKE]have plasterer coming round at 2.30 to give us a quote[/STRIKE] - our house is really coming along at the moment
Our deadline is for it to be complete in November when it's time to remortgage blinking nora he starts tomorrow!
* more silicone removal
* paint kitchen radiator tonight
* continue weeding the driveway this evening
*[STRIKE] all meals from stores[/STRIKE] veg lasagne made using up veg in fridge & frozen bits & bobs
* something out of freezer for dinnerno need
* make cinnamon buns today
* [STRIKE]get petrol while passing through town & do tyre pressure[/STRIKE]
* check water & oil
* [STRIKE]email db about meeting up[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] call host family school to arrange home visit and advise we can't host from this weekend[/STRIKE]
So most of my efforts today are work towards finishing our house so we can remortgage and get a better deal! :T Need to start thinking & preparing for my interview on Tuesday :j

Hello again

My plans for today are:- [STRIKE]Banking[/STRIKE]
- Nectar surveys
- Hang washing out before it rains tomorrow (forecast is awful!)
- Start tidying spare room
- Dinner from freezer
- Walk four miles
- Book train tickets for visit to parents in the summer
- Get a list written of all the things I need to see at the Book Festival
- Go to RBS and complain about the fact the £20 ATM claim I made hasn't appeared. 21 days and nothing so far :mad:
I'm at the point with RBS where I may end up just closing my accounts tbh. They have been worse than useless over this - they told me 21 days to get the claim processed, which ends today, but when I queried it yesterday it suddenly became 28 days. I was lucky that I had savings as when the machine kept my cash I only had £30 in my current account and it ate £20 :mad:0 -

Morning all,
Lovely sunshine so far, plus a productive morning:
*Watered veggie garden & dispatched a bean-thieving snail into space.
*Made bread (a loaf in the BM & a dozen rolls by hand, which are just proving).
*Baked a Nigella lemon drizzle cake for Father's Day gift. Both Dads getting home-baked cakes this year.
*Made spicy chickpea burgers for dinner (froze 4 extra ones).
Still to do:
-Update grocery budget.
-Do next week's meal plans.
-Plan what food we need to take on our camping trip. This is going to be a very low-budget mini-break. We're fine with that, we just fancy some time away in our lovely tent & seeing the sea!
-Write shopping list.
-Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
-Finish last bit of last little sock I'm knitting. A very funky pair indeed. Will defo suit a hippy baby, lol!
-Resume knitting final adult-size pair of socks for the present box. The last pair I need to do this year, but still got a couple of hats & a jumper to knit for gifts.
If I have any extra time today, it will have to be spent on gardening. Hope everyone seeing some sunshine.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
