Thanks for this information, does she not need proof that they actually now own this debt and have the right to collect it?

Sorry if I sound ill informed, this is all new to me, just trying to help her, shes in such a mess financially

Yes, you do need proof from these clowns that she owes the money and they have the right to collect it.

Would you send money to me just because I said you should? No, you wouldn't.

Make these people work, make them prove that what they say is true. It can strengthn your bargaining position if they do come back with something. At the very least it gives you time to gather thoughts and work out what your repayment amount will be.

Jules, I'd just ognore these goons.

Stu, if you get a discount on a debt, it means they have paid pennies for it or there is no paperwork to hand..

..the next letter you will get from Marlin is to say they are passing the debt back to the OC.

harvey when the debt was passed from Britannica to marlin they immediately gave me 50% discount with a PS marker blah blah this shows they paid pennies for it like you said so i am interested in their next move!!
Jules i got a reply back from Marlin within 3 days but my situation may be different! on the other hand the othe dca i wrote to have not replied yet!!

I will update this for future help to others. My Friend is now dealing with this herself and has had advice else where. She sent a cca request and received a partial credit agreement, the page that is signed, but no t&c's. So she is requested the rest of the agreement and other information at present. I think this puts the account into dispute till this information is provided. Thanks all for your help, this has given her a starting point
