Cash-Clothes Birmingham Review

There are few reviews of these cash for clothes recycling companies on this website but most are over 3 years old and so I thought I would add a new one to bring light to the current standard.

My recommendation is not to use them under any circumstance.

My experience revolves around many lost days from work, under less phone calls enquiring about payment and a depressing payment at the end.

After originally enquiring, I had 5 days off work to set up for collection. The first time I was informed, at 6pm that no collection would be made and another would be scheduled the day after. After that, I received no warning that no one would arrive. Continuous phone calls to find out when drivers would arrive became empty promises about them being able to attend but falling through.

When the collection did arrive I was pleased, due to the friendly driver and helper. I was informed payment was made within 7-10 working days.

Then the real nightmare started. Ten days later I rang to enquire when payment would be made. The phones ring off, the employees had no idea when or what was happening, and the accounts team work 2, possibly 3 days a week. More empty promises about being phoned to find out when payment would be made.

The final result was a seriously underwhelming payment for a large number of bags. A seriously disappointing experience. The staff at the telephone sales department were all very friendly, but unable to answer any questions.

The overall experience is extremely disappointing. Sell your clothes elsewhere, or better still, give them away to charity and don't lose your days off work.

If you must use them, go through the terms and conditions with a fine tooth comb and don't expect an awful lot in return.

Comments

  • My girlfriend tried to use this service, and suffered from over 2 weeks of non collections and phonecalls.

Resulted in bags of wet ruined clothes left outside waiting for them time and time again.

Looking elsewhere on the web, this is a common experience for everyone using the site.

Simply put, it's a waste of time. Put your old clothes to good use at a charity shop instead and save yourself a headache.

I have just used this service. The collection time was ok but on their website they indicate very clearly - with a picture -that they would make instant payment and they don't. They also say VERY clearly that they give £20.00 a bag for new branded designer clothes with tags or £6.50 a bag for clothes based on 10kg bags. I have just looked at the receipt they gave me and it says @ 25p per kg. I chose these people because they say they take other items (like books) but they don't. Surely this is some type of fraud!! I feel very cheated and decieved by them. I haven't had payment yet but I am assuming it will not be what I was expecting.

Please do not use this company. i have had the exact difficulties as des404. they collected my clothes as agreed but have never sent me any money and countless emails to the company have been a waste of time. they are just CON ARTISTS and you are better off just giving your clothes to charity. I will be reporting this company to Trading standards and hope that everyone else does the same so we can get this company struck off from trading.
    CASH FOR CLOTHING BIRMINGHAM
  • I gave 6 bags of clothes to cash clothes in Aug and have not received my money or any replies from emails I have sent.

This is complete fraud, I will be contacting CAB and Watchdog as an organisation like this should not be trading, is is theft as my clothes would have been sold on to another company to take abroad.

DO NOT USE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

would just like to share my experience that I have received from cash-clothes.co.uk.

We had 35 bags of clothes picked up at the end of August and we were given a receipt and told payment would be on the way. I have finally received payment today after 7 months of endless phonecalls, messages left on answerphones, over 50 pages of email, to be told lie after lie that the money is on the way. We were selling my mums clothes as she went into a home suffering from Altzimers. They never ever returned my calls, just kept being told to telephone the finance department who are open 3 hours a day four days a week (obviously they dont need to be open much if they are not paying people) I finally went online to the small claims court and after issuing a judgement i finally got payment today. I cannot express how much stress this has caused me and my sister, to think that a company can be allowed to operate in this way is beyond me. So BEWARE please take notice of any reviews before letting them go away with your clothes.
