Hand held massagers

Can anyone recommend a decent handheld massager?

I suffer badly from neck & back pain, made worse by being sat all day at work, but I cannot afford to go for a regular massage. There seem to be so many different ones I'm lost!!

Thanks

Ha, I didn't know people actually used these as massagers.

you might need a bit of assistance depending on the location, but i swear by my omni massager. i get lots of problems in my back/shoulder & this has been a lifesaver.

also got something similar to this but a remington one (can't find it anywhere online), it's ok but just awkward & heavy to use.

I have one specially for shoulders. I *think* it is a shiatsu type one. It has three rotating balls. I sit in a high backed chair with the massager placed behind my shoulders. I bought it in Lidl when it was on offer. It looks like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/HoMedics-SP-39H-GB-Shiatsu-Massage-Cushion/dp/B002Z9HBII/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_0
but was not anywhere near as expensive.

I have a chronic joint problem& have not found any relief from the ones I've tried. Have you considered contacting local massage training schools nearby - they're often looking for people for students to massage as part of their case studies/practice and are supervised whilst doing so. One near me charges £7 which might make things more affordable

This is the one I have:

    http://www.selfridges.com/en/Home-Tech/Categories/Shop-Home/Personal-Care/Massage-wellbeing/Intensive-massager-plus-red-light_486-2000346-88275/?cm_mmc=PLA-_-Google-_-Beauty-_-MEDISANA&ci_src=18615224&ci_sku=25931037&$$&gclid=CNSZyI7Lhr8CFc7MtAod_loA4A

It's laughable that they describe it as:
MEDISANA Intensive massager "plus red light"

...because the Red light is actually Infrared function that penetrates deep within the muscles and tissue. A much higher class of massager altogether.

Don't buy one of Medisana's £25 ones or any for that price. They are rubbish. I paid £115 for one of these, and trust me, the ones you can get for £25... Well you might as well strap an electric toothbrush* to your back!

*(I'm keeping it clean; - there could be kids reading!)

THIS is the real deal. It is VERY powerful and
makes use of the double hammerhead, which "rocks" back and forth very fast to create a much better deeper massage than the cheaper ones.

It made its debut at the ideal homes exhibition 11 years ago. I passed the stall and wondered why everyone was making ecstatic groaning noises. Then I tried it - and found out why!

Some beginners won't be able to stand it on full power when they start using it. But you can when you get used to it.

I linked to Selfridges, as they are selling them cheapest at the moment. Ebay has them for £89.

I can understand people like bsms1147 not taking them seriously, but this is in a different league to all the cheap ones.

Wow - I sound like an affiliate don't I? I'm not. I just own one, and it's lasted 11 years of regular use!

    UPDATE:

Sorry Amazon is cheaper than Selfridges at £53.86
