Running out of jobsearch ideas

I've been looking for a new job for around the last 3 months and have done the following-

Registered with 4 agencies, CV up to date and posted on around 5 or 6 jobsites, contacted local employers prospectively as well as previous employers, looked in weekly local papers, will be joining Linkedin later....but otherwise I've had no real luck.

I'm not really 'specialised' in any particular field or profession coming from a mainly administration background.

Have I missed anything I should be trying?

Thanks as usual

Have you tried Indeed? I find it useful, even if to only apply directly with the company advertising.

IF you have no chosen path or career, maybe speak to a careers advisor; you would also need to tailor any CV or application towards a role you would be applying for, and ring the agencies at least twice a week to let them know you are still out there and looking.

I'll be following this with interest as I'm in a similar position. Let's hope we both get some great ideas soon! :)

Back in the late 90's I had a similar problem - I registered with every single agency out there & zip. Finally the DSS as it was then rang the latest one to ask about me. I'd had an acknowledgment, but that was all. No record of me on system, could I send my CV in. Had already done that, so DSS lady asked what they'd done with it. Turned out that person who was dealing with me had left & no one had done anything with her clients at all. DSS lady then said they'd found my CV etc in file 13 - which as far as I was concered was the bin. Suddenly I had a temping job starting Monday! 15 months for what turned out to be a 3 month TJ - let go 2 days before Xmas day. Guess what permanent job I got in the end - bus driver - from being an admin officer! It can be done. Sometimes you have to think outside tha box.

Why not get out there and actually go cold calling with a bunch of cv's.
